Join us from 6:30pm on Thursday 11th February 2027 for a Feed Me style dinner incorporating shared entrees, mains, sides and dessert for only $75 AUD per person. We are lucky enough to have secured an exclusive space for our dinner on level one (Low Kee), giving unparalleled views of Elizabeth Quay and the Swan River. Peers Connect Social Event

Holey Moley Mini Golf + Dinner
This year’s Peers Connect event will take place at Holey Moley Mini Golf (Northbridge), where students and early-career researchers are invited to join a round of mini golf to connect with peers. We will walk together through the Perth CBD to the venue after Day 1 of the conference closes. Following the activity, we’ll head to a nearby venue for a group dinner.
Holey Moley is Australia’s craziest and most unique mini golf venue, par none. Forget the usual windmills and castles, putt your stuff through shark-infested waters and pop culture references like The Simpsons couch and into the Nine Iron Throne itself. Each hole will keep you wanting more.

Workshop
Riding The Wave, But Staying Between the Flags: Leveraging AI in Behavioural Science
As Generative AI becomes embedded in the research and clinical landscape, health psychologists and behavioural scientists are exploring how to leverage these tools efficiently while protecting academic integrity and patient confidentiality. In this practical workshop, we will move beyond basic chatbot interactions to structured prompt engineering and discuss the strengths and limitations of current AI models. We will examine the growing challenges of AI in academia, including hallucinations, synthetic data, navigating journal publication policies, and the data-privacy risks of using AI for qualitative analysis or clinical notes. Through guided group-based activities, participants will stress-test popular AI models for safety and methodological bias, and experiment with configuring a simple, custom AI assistant tailored to a basic research or clinical task. Participants will leave with practical templates, a clearer perspective on AI’s current limitations, and a foundational understanding of how to navigate AI ethics as researchers and clinicians. The workshop is FREE for all ASBHM2027 delegates, and the exact date and time is yet to be scheduled.

Meet your facilitator: Vinayak Dev is a registered psychologist and doctoral candidate at the University of Auckland, currently completing his PhD under the guidance of A/Prof Anna Serlachius and Prof Nathan Consedine. His thesis explores the use of AI as a psychological assessment tool, an area in which he has published two peer-reviewed articles. His broader research spans compassion in healthcare, psycho-oncology, and clinician wellbeing. Drawing on clinical experience across primary care, corrections, and defence settings, Vinayak is passionate about equipping clinicians and researchers to navigate AI safely and ethically.
