Abstract Submissions

KEY DATES

Abstract Submissions are now CLOSED

ASBHM2026 welcomes submissions of original research, review studies, registered study protocols, registered reports, and replication studies from academics, clinicians and policy makers at all levels involved in behavioural medicine. Statistical significance or "novelty" of submissions are not necessary criteria, however, submissions must align with the themes of ASBHM.

Presentation Types

We will be offering the below presentation types at ASBHM2026:

Oral Presentation

This presentation style consists of a multi-slide visual presentation (e.g., PowerPoint) with a limit of 10 minutes of presentation time, with 5 minutes for questions and discussion at the end. You can submit your abstract without results, however, preliminary findings (at a minimum) must be presented at ASBHM2026.

Rapid Presentation

This presentation style is ASBHM’s modern version of a traditional ‘poster’ presentation. It consists of a single static visual slide (formatted however you please), with a limit of 3 minutes for presentation time and 2 minutes for questions and discussion at the end.

Symposium

This presentation style consists of 4-5 oral presentations within the same topic area. Symposium submissions must contain presentations/speakers from at least two different organisations (ideally different states in Aus/NZ). The session is chaired by a member of the symposium. Symposium submissions must be cutting edge and innovative, advancing new or existing knowledge in health psychology and behavioural medicine.

Travel Scholarships

Following on from the success of offering travel scholarships to attend ASBHM2025 on the Gold Coast, we are again offering four travel scholarships valued at $750 AUD each to assist delegates in attending ASBHM2026 in Auckland. The scholarship can be used to fund travel (i.e., airfares), accommodation, and registration costs.

Three scholarships are available for students and early-career (<5 years post-Masters/PhD) delegates only (i.e., undergraduate/Honours/Masters/PhD).

One scholarship is available for all delegates (i.e., there is no restriction on length of career).

Scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria:

  1. Academic and Professional Merit of Abstract
  2. Personal and Career Development of Attending ASBHM2026
  3. Financial Need
  4. Diversity and Inclusion

If you wish to apply for a travel scholarship, you must submit a one-page (approximately 500 words) Personal Statement addressing criteria 2-4. This is completed as part of the abstract submission process.
